Elevate your whiskey-drinking experience with crystal-clear, dense ice cubes that melt slowly, keeping your drink chilled without diluting the flavors. These clarified ice cubes are perfect for those who appreciate the finer details of crafting a perfect glass of whiskey.

Ingredients:

Yield: Varies servings
Filtered water, preferably distilled to remove impurities that cloud the ice
A clean, insulated container or cooler

Instructions:

Step 1
Begin by boiling the filtered water. Boiling helps remove gases and impurities from the water, resulting in clearer ice. Allow the water to cool slightly before proceeding.
Step 2
Pour the boiled water into a clean, insulated container or cooler, leaving a bit of space at the top to allow for expansion as the water freezes.
Step 3
Place the container in the freezer without its lid. This uncovered method helps further reduce air bubbles in the ice.
Step 4
Freeze the water slowly, allowing it to gradually form ice from the top down. This method reduces cloudiness by forcing trapped air and impurities to the bottom of the container.
Step 5
Once the water has fully frozen, which may take between 24 to 48 hours, remove the container from the freezer.
Step 6
Gentlely run warm water along the bottom of the container to loosen the ice block. Be careful not to use hot water as it can crack the ice.
Step 7
Place the ice block on a clean cutting surface. Using a serrated knife and a mallet, score the ice and break it into cubes of preferred whisky size.
Step 8
Store the clarified ice cubes in a dedicated zip-lock bag or airtight container in your freezer until use. Ensure they do not absorb any freezer odors.
Step 9
Add these stunning ice cubes to your whiskey glass and enjoy the enhanced experience of your favorite whiskey.
