This burger is all about freedom and independence. It is a juicy and delicious combination of flavors and textures that will satisfy any burger lover's cravings. The meaty patty, crispy bacon, and tangy pickles, together with the creamy avocado and sharp cheddar cheese, make for a delicious and hearty meal that is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

Yield: 4 servings
1 pound ground beef, preferably at least 80% lean
4 hamburger buns, preferably brioche or potato buns
4 slices of cheddar cheese
4 strips of bacon
1 avocado
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
4 tablespoons of mayo
4 teaspoons of ketchup
4 teaspoons of dijon mustard
8 slices of dill pickles
Salt
Pepper
Olive oil

Instructions:

Step 1
Start by preparing the ingredients. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
Step 2
Form the ground beef into 4 evenly sized patties. Press a small, shallow indention into the center of each patty with your finger, as this will help the patties stay flat while cooking.
Step 3
Generously season both sides of each patty with salt and pepper.
Step 4
Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit and the skin. Mash the avocado in a bowl and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5
Slice the red onion thinly and set aside.
Step 6
Cook the bacon until crispy in a skillet or on a griddle. Remove the bacon and set aside on paper towels to cool and drain.
Step 7
Once the grill or grill pan is hot, lightly oil the grates with olive oil. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. If you prefer your burgers more well-done, cook for an additional minute on each side.
Step 8
During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese and allow it to melt.
Step 9
Toast the hamburger buns on the grill until lightly browned.
Step 10
Assemble the burger by spreading a generous amount of avocado spread on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add a slice of bacon, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, sliced red onion, 2 slices of pickles, and a dollop each of mayo, ketchup, and dijon mustard.
Step 11
Top each burger with the other half of the bun and serve hot. Enjoy the freedom and independence of this delicious, classic burger!
